Progress steps have been created (refer to How to Manage the Versions) with differences in the Minutes. These progress steps must be compared to the reference estimate.
Laid Out In Side-By-Side Columns
In the Minutes view, you must insert, near the columns of the current version, columns relating to the progress steps and the reference estimate. This requires to create free columns as described in How to Create Free Columns with Custom Behavior such as quantities and total costs (obtained as specified in the special section Progress), and relative difference with respect to the reference estimate (computed by a formula).
A sample comes with QDV7 (Sample_Compare_Progress).
For an extra field used by a progress and the reference estimate:
▪Refers to field: select the homologous native field (Mnemonic) generally the quantity or total cost; this is used to transpose the formulas from native to free field

▪Progress statements: select the estimate or the Progress statements in which the extra field is used with respect to the current version (relative rank)
Such a field inherits most of its attributes from the field it refers to. It cannot be used in the Expanded WBS and the Overhead workbook (as breakdown key), nor in the Nomenclatures, nor in the Minutes view as workbook.
It is convenient to group the homologous fields under the same parent named after the native field and to name them after the Progress statements.
Finally, insert the columns (refer to How to Add Columns) and move them to group them (refer to How to Organize the Sheet).
Laid Out In Subsequent Rows
Select a Minute, right click and select Show all versions: a window pops up and shows the subsequent versions of the Minute (the version letter shows in the left column).
The window adjusts under the selected minute. On horizontal scrolling in either view, the two views scroll synchronously.
To change Minute, double click the new row; the window content populates accordingly.
NOTE The count of displayed versions is limited, but the latest are always displayed, and the latest one is selected.
